Premier League Inspires

Community Project

Year 9 Group 2

Mr Mclean

Some Year 9 students have been working with Liam Turner and Kurran from Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C on the Premier League Inspires programme. The Premier League Inspires is an education programme introduced in 2019 and has been developed by the Premier League and professional football clubs. On this program students will build up a range of skills and experiences while also helping their local community.

Students are currently planning a project to raise awareness of a subject close to their heart or to fundraise for a charity relating to their chosen subject. Both groups have chosen to focus on mental health and fundraise for the charities CAHMS and Mind.

One group came up with an idea to create a poster campaign and an accompanying video which highlights the struggles teenagers may experience with their mental health and signpost possible strategies which may help individuals living with a mental health issue as well as providing support for friends and families.

The second group decided to produce a social media campaign using multiple platforms including a short Vlog which documents the work they have done from the initial idea to the final product. The group have also decided to raise money for their chosen charity by helping out in the local community and are currently in the process of contacting possible organisations to offer their help and support.

Students voice

“I enjoy the Premier League Programme because it has helped me realise what I can do to improve my skills. It has also helped me see what I can do to reach my goals in life and where I want to be in the future. It has expanded my knowledge of being a leader and what it is to work as a team. It has shown me how a little impact in the community can improve it and how important it is to be involved in helping it. Not just the area where I live but my school, my friends and wherever I go”
