At S. Peter’s Collegiate School we are extremely proud of the achievements of our student musicians.

More than 250 students participate each in our instrumental teaching programme, many of them rehearsing regularly in one or more of the music groups offered and performing not only at school events but at local, regional, national and on occasions international concerts and festivals.

Young Voices are a group of around 20 singers who perform a selection of music from the shows and popular pieces. 50 of our younger percussion, woodwind and brass players perform together as Training Band and 20 of our string players entertain as Irish Band.

30 of our older singers perform as Senior Choir, whilst Concert Band is a large group of 40 brass, wind and percussion. The Orchestra is a mixed group of 30 brass, woodwind, percussion and strings who play from the classical repertoire. Finally, our 20-strong Big Band perform music from the swing era
above (1)Many of our groups are accustomed to performing at venues outside school and we have provided entertainment for a range of local and regional engagements from church concerts through fetes and corporate events.

Our Choir, in addition to providing music for worship on a regular basis have also sung Evensong at Lichfield Cathedral and performed in St. Paul’s Church at Ground Zero in New York. Our Training Band and Concert Band have both achieved Gold Award at the Regional Heats of National Concert Band Festival and the Training Band achieved Platinum, the highest award, at the Nationals.
